Gino de Dominicis and His Circle: Marina Abramović, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Yuval Etgar

"I think that it is very important for an artist to be able to pay homage to other artists. To openly say that you love an other artist and appreciate their work, especially today, when it feels that the art world is so much consumed by the market, and by the ambitions to achieve individual success." - Marina Abramović

In this conversation between Marina Abramović, Hans Ulrich Obrist, and Yuval Etgar on Gino de Dominicis and his circle, the panellists debate the artist's persona, his practice as a Gesamtkunstwerk, and his interest in the Sumerian god Gilgamesh, among other things.

An excerpt of this panel discussion is included in the gallery's periodical publication, which, in tune with Abramović's comment, is dedicated to contemporary practicioners who pay homage to other artists and meaningful events from the past century. Conversations Vol.1also includes Antony Gormley on Alberto Giacometti's Early Sculptures (1925-35) and Richard Prince on the Invention of Rephotography.
