Contingencies: Arte Povera and After
Published on the occasion of the exhibition Contingencies: Arte Povera, held by Luxembourg & Dayan, New York, in 2017, this book explores the notion of ‘contingency’ as a link between the Arte Povera movement that operated in Italy during the late 1960s and a group of young practitioners that engage with similar questions under different technological, political and material conditions in New York City.
The book includes an essay by Josephine Graf, curator of the exhibition, and art historian Alex Bacon. It presents works by Giovanni Anselmo, Pier Paolo Calzolari, Luciano Fabro, Jannis Kounellis, Pino Pascali, Michaelangelo Pistoletto, Olga Balema, Elaine Cameron-Weir, Jason Loebs, and Carlos Reyes.
