Pistoletto Politico
This catalogue was published on the occasion of the exhibition Pistoletto Politico: works by Michelangelo Pistoletto at Luxembourg & Dayan, London, February 12 - April 12, 2013.
Pistoletto, working throughout Italy's murderous anni di piombo, and affected, like everyone else, by the scale and the cruelty of the political confrontation, could not help to reflect it in his works. What is interesting in Pistoletto's engagement with this subject is that he has been able to capture the crux of the internal conflict felt within Italian society. His works assign the viewer the dual role of participant and spectator.
This illustrated exhibition catalog includes an essay by Robert Lumley, and six excerpts (and their English translations) from writing by different people in the socio-cultural field during the period of the anni di piombo.
