Alighiero Boetti: A Private Collection

The principles of order and disorder, seriality, and play are perhaps the most prevalent elements in Boetti's artistic experimentation. Motivated by the potential that he recognised everywhere around him Boetti once claimed that 'the greatest joy on earth consists of inventing the world the way it is without inventing anything in the process'. And indeed, whether through sculpture, painting, drawing or embroidery, his work insists on reconsidering the customary function of the things that surround us, and to offer a new logical order on the basis of the existing one. 

Published on the occasion of the exhibition of a single-owner collection at Luxembourg & Dayan, London, in 2016, this catalogue includes an essay by art historian Jean-Christophe Ammann, the author of the Boetti Catalogue Raisonné.
